Round 1 of the 2017 TSSAA Playoffs is officially complete and in the books. What did we learn in round 1?
- Region 3 6A likes playing each other so much that they all swept Region 4 just so they could play each other one more time…how sweet.
- The biggest shock was undefeated Mt. Juliet getting upset by 4 seed Riverdale. Yes we knew it would be a competitive game but I don’t think anyone expected the Warriors to hold MJ to 14 points.
- Spring Hill Raiders woke up from their season end slumber to take out the 2 seeded Macon County. We hope it was the pep talk that we gave them on our radio show this past Sunday that put them over the top.
- Coach Hester has plenty of playoff experience under his belt, so much that he had enough leftover from his Ravenwood days to guide the 1st year Nolensville Knights past Livingston Academy 21-14. They now have a second shot at Maplewood that advanced past Stone Memorial.
- MBA was hoping for a chance to face Ensworth one more time this year to avenge their mid season loss to the Tigers, but Baylor had something different in mind when they knocked of the Tigers last night 28-20
- East Nashville shocked Cheatham Co. 13-3 Like they say “If you can’t beat’em…cheat’em” (country accent). Well …there wasn’t any cheating from the Eagles, just good ole fashioned Defense. Congrats…get ready for the Firebirds!
- Cornersville looks Cookeville bound is the Good news…the bad news is that so does Dresden sitting at 10-1
See ya’ll for Round2.
