Rossview takes the Warfield Shield

The Warfield Shield was slammed into the ground on Friday as Rossview reclaimed the shield. Coach Ron Lambert received the shield from SGA Student President Carson Watts after receiving it from Clarksville High. Lambert, then proceeded to claim the shield and dig it right into the ground for a picture. Rossview ran away with the title in a 42-7 win.
It was a jammed packed atmosphere as Rossview hosted over 2,500 fans from both schools. The Hawks couldn’t let their fans down as this game is claimed to be bigger then their homecoming game.
The first score of the game came from quarterback Skyler Luna who ran in it for an 11 yard touchdown run. Kicker Caden Patterson was able to help take the 7-0 lead early in the first. A blocked punt from freshman Jason Eaton initially set the Wildcats up in good position.
It was all Rossview from that moment on. The Hawks defense was pressuring CHS all night, making Luna scramble and unable to complete majority of his passes. Running back Brevon Johnson wasn’t able to do much as Rossview held CHS to only 88 yards on the ground.
It was Rossview running back Fred Orr’s night as he ran all over Clarksville High’s defense. He ran 141 yards on 16 carries, averaging 8.8 yards a carry with three touchdowns. Orr’s touchdown runs were from 3, 6 and 20 yards out.
Quarterback Kole Monson snuck into the endzone for a three yard run, but it was Orr who had a 15 and 40 yard run to set Monson up.
Jakob Harris had a seven yard touchdown, which was his first one of the season. Isaiah Phillips was able to run in another six yard touchdown to be the last score of the game.
Rossview went to the ground this year, just like last year in the Warfield Shield game. Rossview ran up the game with 295 rush yards.
Rossview will look to keep the hot legs running as they play Dickson Country next week. Clarksville High will look to bounce back from losing two straight and face a tough Henry County team next week.
