Mount Juliet’s massive offensive line and defense set the tone for win Green Wave. Mount Juliet kicked the ball off to start this season against the Gallatin Green Wave. The very first play of the game set the tone for the Golden Bears with a defensive stop for negative yards. Both offenses for Mount Juliet and Gallatin were stopped on their first possessions. Michael Rutlen for the Bears intercepted Gallatin’s quarterback stopping the Green Wave drive dead in its tracks and a potential score.
Mount Juliet took over at their own 7 yard line before putting together a few plays to finally get on the board with 14 yard field goal to go up 3 nothing. Several plays later Mount Juliet stopped the Greenwave again on 4th and 1 on as Gallatin was on the Mount Juliet 15 yard line. Another turning point in the first half came when Mount Juliet punted the ball to Gallatin which resulted in a fumble on their own 24yd line eventually setting up Mason Earl’s for a 1-yard touchdown run behind Mount Juliet massive offensive line. Going into the half Mount Juliet was up 10 to nothing.
Opening up the second half Mount Juliet received the ball and drove down the field capping it off with a 32-yard rushing touchdown by Marcello Walton. Minutes later after Gallatin received the ensuing kickoff from Mount Juliet Gallatin runing back Jordan Mason broke a 71-yard rushing touchdown to finally put points on the board for the Green Wave. Mason Earl capped off the evening with a one yard keeper to go up 24-6 with 4 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.
Mount Juliet’s defense came to play all evening long but really shined in the second half with an interception from Josiah White and a sack to close the third quarter. Gallatin lost out on a few key moments, especially towards the end of the game when a huge special teams turnover turned into two points for the Bears. Gallatin must regroup to get ready to play Springfield who won this evening while Mount Juliet will look to improve as they face a really good Cane Ridge football team that beat Antioch this evening 39-0.
