NEW SHERIFF IN TOWN – KIT HARTSFIELD
Blackman Blaze has a new sheriff in town, and they didn’t have to look far to bring him in to lead the program. Kit Hartsfield, 31, an Austin Peay graduate and football player, former Riverdale Warriors linebacker under Coach Gary Rankin, looks to take the Blackman Blaze to the next level under his guidance. Before Hartsfield took over the Blaze Head Coaching position he ran the defensive coordinator spot assisting former Head Coach David Watson. Under Watson, Blackman went 28-10 and reached the 6A state quarterfinals twice. Coach Hartfield inherits a dynamic offense with McGavock transfer Tamicus Napier at the running back position with returning current running backs Connor Murphy and Jordan Brown to provide a 1,2,3 punch out of the backfield. One of Hartsfield’s first decisions was moving Adonis Otey to the quarterback position to add some uncertainty to opposing defenses while also having him (Otey) sure up the defensive backfield. One of the last pieces to the puzzle for Blackman is wide receiver Trey Knox who the blaze are relying heavily on this season to get over the hump and make some noise in the playoffs this fall.
