We are looking forward to this evenings game between 2A Watertown Purple Tigers versus D2-A Davidson Academy Bears. This is going to be our first Private School vs Public School game of the season. Both teams come into this evening’s game off of week 1 wins. Watertown after a nice win 41 – 15 over Gordonsville and Davidson Academy won 37-29 over Friendship Christian last week.
Davidson Academy quarterback, Stone Norton, who is only a sophomore will be a big name to watch tonight and for years to come. Stone lit up stat sheet last week throwing for 322 passing yards and three touchdowns. Watertown also has a stud at the quarterback position in Seth Price who lit up the stat sheet for 352 yards and five touchdowns in their season opener. We are not really sure if both teams played against poor defenses last week but tonight will definitely be a testament to how each other stack up. Watertown has two players to keep an eye on in senior offensive lineman Rusty Staats, who has committed to Air Force Academy, to protect his senior quarterback and senior Vonte Bates, who is the talk of the town on many recruiting trails. It’s going to be an interesting cat-and-mouse game with Bates in the backfield while Stone Norton tries to dissect the defense. Davidson Academy also has an University of Memphis commit, offensive tackle Obinna Eze that will be relied upon heavily in protecting Norton.
Check back in with us later on this evening for game highlights, pictures, and live periscoping.
Let’s play some football!
