Jack Jakobik was hired as the new football coach at Cheatham County on May 3rd.
Now only 20 days after getting his head coaching job, Jakobik has resigned his post in Ashland City.
“Yes. It was necessary for me to resign from Cheatham County Central due to some unforeseen circumstances,” Jakobik wrote in an email. “I wish the team and the community the very best.”
Jakobik came to Ashland City from Ravenwood where he had been the defensive backs and special teams coach for the Raptors.
Jakobik was also an assistant coach at Carson Newman, Gardner Webb and was a Graduate Assistant for Tennessee as well.
He replaced Cody Finley, who left in March to become the new head coach at Stewart County.
Finley had a 67-55 record in Ashland City led the Cubs to the playoffs eight times in 11 years and an overall coaching record of 70-62.
The Cubs are coming off their best season in school history as they went 12-1 on the year before losing to CPA in the Class 3A Quarterfinals.
The Cubs had an undefeated regular season in 2012 as well.
