Football is NOT Life
by. Evan A. Butler (D1 Highlights – Editor)
Everyday while we sit creating and publishing content for D1 Highlights we surf our blog pages looking at post and comments from young players stating that “Football is Life”. We understand the context, but just go along with my argument for sake of the larger picture that I am trying to paint.
We here at D1Highlights love football just as much as the next red blooded American, but do understand that it is not our life! Football is a tool to used to enjoy life, to get out of life the things that you want in order to better your life! Like other tools of life, we recommend that you use that tool until you can no longer use it anymore. Ask yourself…”what will you do when you can no longer be on the field competing” whether by choice, time or tragedy. Will you resent the game, the tool that gave you so much or will you teach others to use that tool and pass it along to another generation? Football has been kind to us here at D1highlights therefore we have chosen to pass along our life skills in media and journalism to the young people that love football as to highlight positive players, coaches and programs in the state.
Every year we witness high school players playing their last games at the end of the season and the tears that follow! Though high school football as you know it may be over, we encourage those that still want to be involved in the game to share their time and knowledge with someone that could use some advice on how to use this life tool of football.
So whether you have the opportunity to continue your football career in college or not Remember…God is life, family and friends are life. Football is a tool…of life, learn how to use it beyond the field.
