Mic’d Up with Coach Brian Waite
We took a few moments to follow East Nashville Head Coach Brain Waite during his teams pre-game warm ups. Coach Waite and the East Nashville Eagles were one of our first subjects for our “Spring Practice” series a few years ago. It has been a while since we visited he and his team so we figured it would only be appropriate to make him the topic of our first “Mic’d Up”. Currently there are a lot of exciting things progressing for Coach Waite and his Eagles, one of which is the funding of an on-site home stadium for the team. Thus far ever since East Nashville reinstated its varsity football program in 2008 the team has had to play their games at the TPS Complex in South Nashville. Every game for the Eagles, whether home or away, has to be prepared for like it is an away game. We are excited to see the team play a true home game on their home field at the start of the 2017 season. Most of the new stadium has been funded, Coach Waite tells us, however more funds are needed to fund an artificial turf field that can withstand the wear and tear from game as well as practice usage. We also had the chance to check out 4 star recruit Jacob Phillips just before he decides where he will be playing college football. Jacob has offers from several division 1 schools, his top 5 are Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Oregon and Alabama. Jacob will be announcing his commitment on Wednesday October 12th at East Nashville High.
