Stewart Creek High School Dominates Smyrna in 21-0 Victory
In a highly anticipated match-up last night, Stewart Creek High School asserted their dominance over Smyrna High School with a commanding 21-0 shutout victory. From the opening whistle to the final play, the Red Hawks controlled every aspect of the game, showcasing their offensive firepower and defensive resilience.
First Half: A Battle of Defenses
The first quarter saw both teams start cautiously, with the defenses on both sides making crucial stops. Stewart Creek’s defense, led by their star linebacker, Keilan Harris with 5 sacks, was especially formidable, holding Smyrna to minimal yardage and forcing a series of three-and-outs. On the other side, Smyrna’s defense also held strong, limiting Stewart Creek’s offense and keeping the game scoreless through most of the opening quarter.
As the third quarter unfolded, the Red Hawks began to break through Smyrna’s defensive line. Quarterback Jerry Taylor connected with Tight End Grady Harvey for a 35-yard touchdown pass, igniting the crowd and giving Stewart Creek the lead. The extra point was no good, and Stewart Creek took a 6-0 advantage going into the 4th.
As the 4th quarter began Stewart Creek showed no signs of slowing down. Their defense continued to clamp down on Smyrna’s offense, with defensive linemen like Julian Albright constantly applying pressure on Smyrna’s quarterback. Smyrna struggled to find any rhythm, and their running game was effectively shut down.
Midway through the 4th quarter, Stewart Creek’s offense struck again. Running back Caleb Floyd broke free for a 10-yard touchdown run, showcasing his speed and agility as he weaved through defenders. With the two-point conversion, Stewart Creek extended their lead to 14-0.
Smyrna, unable to respond, found themselves on the back foot for the remainder of the game. A late fourth-quarter drive by Stewart Creek sealed the victory, as Keilan Harris capped it off with a rushing TD to add to his 10 tackles and 5 sacks on the night.
